Thunder Falls Terrace Closing for New Signature Dining at Islands of Adventure

Universal Orlando Resort is continuing to evolve its dining lineup, and a major change is coming to Jurassic Park. Thunder Falls Terrace, a popular quick-service location at Universal Islands of Adventure, will officially close in summer 2026 to make way for an all-new full-service dining experience.
This transformation signals a big shift for dining inside the park.
Thunder Falls Terrace Set to Close in 2026
Located in the Jurassic Park section of Islands of Adventure, Thunder Falls Terrace has long been a go-to spot for:
- Rotisserie chicken and ribs
- Quick, casual meals
- Convenient dining near Jurassic Park River Adventure
New Full-Service Dining Experience Coming
In place of Thunder Falls Terrace, guests can expect a brand-new signature dining restaurant.
While Universal has not released official details yet, this new concept is expected to:
- Offer a full-service dining experience
- Feature a more immersive theme
- Elevate dining options within the park
This marks a major upgrade from quick-service to a premium dining destination.
Why This Change Is Happening

While not official, if I had to guess, this update likely ties into another major change happening at Islands of Adventure; the eventual closure of Mythos Restaurant in the Lost Continent.
Transforming Thunder Falls Terrace into a signature dining venue helps fill that gap.
What Could the Theme Be?

While nothing has been officially announced, the location offers a big clue. (And keep in mind, this is just me speculating…)
Since the restaurant sits in Jurassic Park, a dinosaur-inspired theme seems likely.
That said, combining:
🦖 Dinosaurs
🍽️ Signature dining
…is definitely an interesting challenge, but if anyone can pull it off, it’s Universal.
Final Thoughts
The closure of Thunder Falls Terrace marks another step in the ongoing transformation of Universal Islands of Adventure.
While it’s always tough to lose a familiar quick-service spot, the addition of a new signature dining experience could bring something truly unique to the park.
Now the big question is…
What will this fine dining experience actually look like?
