Lost Continent

It’s now official! Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that The Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure is on its way out. While construction walls and visible changes have been hinting at this for months, Universal has now formally announced that the land will be replaced with a brand-new, currently unnamed concept.

This marks a major transformation for one of the park’s original lands.

Lost Continent Closure Already Underway

Lost Continent

If you’ve visited Universal Islands of Adventure recently, this news likely won’t come as a surprise.

Lost Continent
  • Construction walls have already appeared throughout the land
  • Work is actively taking place behind the scenes
  • Portions of the area are being phased out over time

Universal has confirmed that the closure of Lost Continent will happen in phases, rather than all at once.

Mythos Restaurant to Close in 2027

One of the biggest impacts of this change is the eventual closure of Mythos Restaurant, one of the most well-known dining locations in the park.

  • Mythos is expected to close sometime in 2027
  • The restaurant has long been a fan-favorite and even earned recognition as one of the best theme park restaurants in the world

Have to admit, this is one restaurant that WILL be missed.

What Will Replace Lost Continent?

Lost Continent

At this time, Universal has not announced what the new land will be.

However:

  • The project is already in active development
  • The replacement will be a completely new concept
  • It will likely tie into Universal’s broader strategy of expanding immersive, IP-driven lands. (Rumors indicate lots of things, but the most heavily repeated rumors are Super Nintendo related..)

Given Universal’s recent additions and upcoming projects, expectations are high for what comes next.

Final Thoughts

Lost Continent

The official confirmation of Lost Continent’s closure marks the end of an era at Universal Islands of Adventure.

While it’s always tough to say goodbye to a classic land, the promise of a brand-new experience brings plenty of excitement for the future.
