In a somewhat surprising move, but perhaps not to longtime Universal fans, Fast & Furious: Supercharged will be closing much sooner than expected.

While the attraction was originally anticipated to remain open until sometime in 2027, Universal Orlando Resort has now confirmed that Fast & Furious: Supercharged will permanently close on August 16, 2026.

The closure marks the end of one of Universal Studios Florida’s most divisive attractions.

A Ride That Never Quite Won Over Guests

Fast & Furious: Supercharged

Fast & Furious: Supercharged invited guests to join Dom, Letty, Hobbs, Roman, and the rest of the Fast family for an action-packed adventure inspired by the blockbuster film franchise.

Before boarding, guests explored one of the attraction’s biggest highlights—a detailed recreation of the Fast & Furious headquarters. The queue featured authentic movie props, customized vehicles, and impressive set pieces that made fans feel like they had stepped directly into the films.

In fact, many guests considered the queue to be the best part of the entire experience. (Myself included.)

Once aboard, riders found themselves caught in a high-speed chase through the streets alongside the Fast & Furious crew. The attraction combined motion simulation, large projection screens, and practical effects to recreate the over-the-top action the franchise is known for.

Was it cheesy? Absolutely.

Was it over-the-top? Without question.

And in many ways, it embraced the larger-than-life spirit of the Fast & Furious movies.

Why Is Fast & Furious: Supercharged Closing?

The attraction’s closure comes as Universal Orlando prepares for the next chapter of the franchise.

A brand-new roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, is set to bring a completely new level of thrills to the series. Rather than continuing with the motion-based experience found in Supercharged, the new attraction will feature an intense coaster experience. The coaster is designed to capture the speed, drifting, and adrenaline of the films.

With the arrival of Hollywood Drift, it makes sense for Universal to retire the older attraction and focus on the franchise’s future.

Time for One Last Ride

Love it or hate it, Fast & Furious: Supercharged has become a memorable part of Universal Studios Florida’s history since opening in 2018.

For some guests, it was an attraction they skipped every visit. For others, its campy dialogue and outrageous action made it a guilty pleasure. Either way, its closure marks the end of an era. But the beginning of a new one for the Fast & Furious franchise at Universal Orlando.

If you’ve always wanted to experience the attraction one more time (or perhaps for the very first time), you’ll have until August 16, 2026, before the ride races into retirement for good. (Now, I’ll need to go console my husband who loved this attraction unironically.)
