Disney Springs Resort Bus Verification Returns June 28 and Becomes Permanent Policy

Walt Disney World has confirmed that transportation verification for guests boarding resort hotel transportation from Disney Springs will officially return on June 28, 2026. Oh and this time the policy is here to stay.
While some guests believed the verification process was only returning for the busy Independence Day holiday period, Disney has confirmed that the change will become a permanent operating procedure for transportation from Disney Springs to Disney Resort hotels.
What Is Changing?
Beginning June 28, guests wishing to board Disney transportation from Disney Springs to a Disney Resort hotel will need to prove they have a valid reason to visit that resort.
According to signage posted at Walt Disney World:
Beginning June 28, 2026, Walt Disney World Transportation service from Disney Springs to Disney Resort Hotels is available for Guests stayng at a Disney Resort hotel or visiting one with a valid dining or experience reservation.
Cast Members stationed at the Disney Springs transportation area will scan MagicBands, Key to the World cards, or other reservation credentials. This will be done to verify eligibility before allowing guests to board.
Water Taxis Included Too
The policy won’t just apply to buses.
Disney has also confirmed that the verification process will extend to the Sassagoula River water taxi service. This service connects Disney Springs with nearby Disney Resort hotels.
Guests using either bus or boat transportation will be required to provide proof of a qualifying reservation.
What Reservations Qualify?
Guests must have one of the following:
- An active Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation
- A confirmed dining reservation at a Disney Resort hotel
- A confirmed recreation reservation, such as a specialty cruise or other resort activity
Guests without one of these qualifying reservations will not be permitted to board Disney transportation from Disney Springs to resort hotels.
Why Is Disney Making This Change?
Disney previously tested similar transportation verification procedures during both the New Year’s and Easter holiday periods.
It appears that the Easter trial was considered successful in helping free up transportation capacity. But it also addressed a longstanding issue. That is that Guests would park at Disney Springs and then use Disney transportation to access the theme parks without paying theme park parking fees.
By limiting resort transportation to guests with legitimate resort-related reservations, Disney hopes to improve transportation availability for those who are actually staying at or visiting the resorts.
What Guests Need to Know
If you’re planning to travel from Disney Springs to a Disney Resort hotel beginning June 28, be sure to have your reservation readily available.
Whether you’re heading to a character meal, a resort restaurant, a recreation activity, or your Disney Resort hotel room, you’ll need proof of your reservation before boarding.
Without a verified reservation, guests will not be able to use Disney Springs bus transportation or Sassagoula River water taxi service to Disney Resort hotels.
Does This Affect Resort Hopping?
One important thing to note is that this policy currently applies only to transportation departing from Disney Springs.
At this time, Walt Disney World has not announced any changes to its existing resort-to-resort transportation policies. Guests may still travel between Disney Resort hotels using Disney transportation, subject to normal operating procedures and transportation routes.
In other words, if you’re visiting a resort to enjoy dining, shopping, recreation, or simply explore, Disney is not currently requiring reservation verification when traveling between resorts.
Of course, Disney could expand the policy in the future, but as of now, resort hopping itself is not going away, and no reservation checks are being implemented for transportation between Disney Resort hotels.
