Are you anxious for the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows to open on its projected opening date of December 17.

Well, we have some more amazing details today that were released that make this new section of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort even better! That’s because there will be a brand new restaurant, as well as a great pool area that will both be part of this new addition!

Let’s learn more about Wailulu Bar & Grill, as well as the new splash pad and pool, plus an exclusive garden area that’s also being added.

At Wailulu Bar & Grill, Guests will be able to enjoy flavors of Polynesia. “Wailulu” gets its name from the Hawaiian words “wai,” which means water, and “lulu” which means calm.

Wailulu Bar & Grill will feature indoor and outdoor seating areas. There will also be a spectacular bar space with views of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. This casual walk-up pool bar will feature an all-day menu for lunch and dinner that is influenced by the Polynesian Islands’ ingredients. Specialty coffee and on-the-go morning pastries will be available for breakfast.

The dining room section will be adorned with Polynesian-inspired artwork including floating tropical fish sculptures crafted from recycled materials and reclaimed fishing nets. The fish will be “swimming” throughout the space, leading to a grand piece featured in the bar area, representing a coral reef.

The center of the dining room will showcase an abstract Polynesian Stick Chart – an ancient navigation tool used to traverse the seas. Guests will also find a vibrant centerpiece made up of shades of blue, teal and green faux stained-glass. And yes, you’ll see a painting of Moana on display too.

I can’t wait to dine here. This looks like a fantastic space that will be a great getaway from the parks.

The menu of Wailulu will be shared soon. We’ll make sure to have them here on A Disney World After All when released.

New Pool & Splash Area

The new splash area will be called Moana’s Voyage. It will feature life-size sculptures of Moana and her iconic canoe. This area looks so cool and it looks like a great space for little ones to play in! Though I hope they know that those little ones are definitely climbing that statue and I hope that’s part of the plan. (I can already see my daughter climbing it now.)

The tower will also be home to Cove Pool. This will be a zero entry pool offering even more opportunities to relax. Both Disney Vacation Club members and guests staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be able to experience these new features.

Terrace Garden Views

Oh and one more incredible perk. Members and Guests staying at the Island Tower addition will enjoy exclusive access to four tropical terrace gardens.

Each terrace garden will feature artwork, foliage and themed seating areas. The hideaways will offer families a serene locale to gather and take in the views during their stay.

Speaking of views, Guests will be able to see Disney’s Oak Trail and Magnolia Golf Courses or Seven Seas Lagoon. The later will make for a spectacular place for viewing Magic Kingdom fireworks.  (And will likely be INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to get into, especially in the evening. Especially given what looks like the smaller intimate size of the space shown above.)
