EPCOT’s Journey Into Imagination Is Getting a New Chapter

Get ready to take another flight of fancy at EPCOT.

During the closing moments of the Disney Experiences showcase at D23 2026, Disney made a surprise announcement that has longtime EPCOT fans celebrating: Dreamfinder and Figment are returning for a new journey into imagination. (Why yes I did ugly cry when this announcement was made.)

Disney did not reveal many details during the announcement, and the project is still in the very early stages of development. However, follow-up information indicates that Disney is working on a newly updated attraction centered around the beloved characters.

For fans who have been asking for the return of Dreamfinder, this announcement is particularly significant.

Dreamfinder and Figment Are Back Together

Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum shared the news to a cheering D23 crowd.

“We are taking a new journey into imagination at EPCOT with Dreamfinder and Figment!”

Mazloum went on to acknowledge just how important the characters are to EPCOT fans, adding that Disney has heard the requests from Guests.

What Is Happening to Journey Into Imagination?

This is where things remain intentionally vague.

Disney has confirmed that it is taking a new journey into imagination, but the company has not yet provided concept art, an opening date, attraction details or a timeline for construction.

What we do know is that Disney is working on an updated attraction, but the project is still in its early stages.

That means there is likely to be plenty more information revealed as Imagineering continues developing the experience.

For now, it’s best to think of this announcement as the beginning of the next chapter rather than a detailed project reveal.

Figment Is Staying at EPCOT

One thing Disney has made clear is that Figment isn’t going anywhere.
