Disney Villains Land at Magic Kingdom: Everything We Know About the New Land

Last Updated: August 16, 2026 – Added in details about the Maleficent Coaster, Magic Mirror Dark Ride, Storyline of the land, and more.
Disney Villains Land Coming to Magic Kingdom
Are you ready to get villainous? Soon, Walt Disney World Guests will have the chance to embrace their love of Disney’s most iconic villains at Disney Villains Land, a brand-new area coming to Magic Kingdom.
First announced at D23 in 2024, the fully dedicated land inspired by Disney Villains is now in development. It marks one of the most ambitious expansions in Magic Kingdom history.
While Disney has not yet revealed every detail, we know the land will feature two major attractions. There will also be shops, restaurants and an original story inspired by some of Disney Animation’s most infamous villains.
What Will Disney Villains Land Be Called?

Disney has officially confirmed the name simply as Villains Land.
The straightforward name fits naturally alongside Magic Kingdom’s other themed lands, including Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Adventureland.
But while the name may sound simple, the atmosphere will be anything but.
Villains Land will bring a darker, more mysterious form of magic to Magic Kingdom. It will create a setting unlike anything else currently found in the park.
What Is the Story of Villains Land?

The story behind Villains Land is completely original, even though Disney’s classic villains will provide much of the inspiration.
Imagineers are drawing from familiar characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Keep in mind though, Guests won’t simply be walking into a collection of movie sets. Instead, Villains Land will tell a new story that brings these characters together through a mysterious source of dark magic.
And, naturally, it all begins with a fairytale.
In many classic fairytales, the adventure begins when someone leaves the safety of the familiar path and ventures into a mysterious forest.
That’s exactly what happens in Villains Land.
Deep within the forest is a Wishing Well that has been torn apart. A wishing well would typically symbolize hope and goodness, but this one has been corrupted by something much darker.
Long ago, someone made an evil wish at the well.
That wish poisoned the magic within it, corrupting the stone structure and causing the well to break open. Its dark magic then spread throughout the surrounding forest.
The corrupted magic proved irresistible to those with wicked intentions.
One by one, villains began arriving in the forest, each hoping to claim the remaining power of the Wishing Well.
And as they harness the well’s dark magic, they use it to conjure their own lairs throughout Villains Land.
That means Guests will be exploring a forest shaped by the villains themselves.
Maleficent Coaster Coming to Villains Land

One of the two major attractions planned for Villains Land will be an exhilarating coaster featuring Maleficent, the Mistress of All Evil.
Guests will race through enchanted briars surrounding Maleficent’s frightening mountaintop fortress.
The attraction promises a thrilling adventure through the world of Sleeping Beauty. Imagineers teased that the coaster will feature elements they have never attempted before on similar attractions.
While Disney has not yet revealed the attraction’s official name or all of its ride details, the experience is expected to be one of the major thrill attractions at Magic Kingdom.
Magic Mirror Dark Ride

The second headlining attraction will take Guests into a completely different kind of villainous adventure.
This dark ride will feature a collection of Disney’s most memorable villains and will be hosted by one of the most iconic magical objects in Disney history: the Magic Mirror.
Guests will first encounter the Magic Mirror in the catacombs beneath the Evil Queen’s pristine palace.
Once they reach him, the Magic Mirror will magically transport Guests into his Mirror Realm.
On the other side of the mirror, Guests will encounter a mysterious, ethereal world filled with Disney Villains.
The Magic Mirror will conjure these infamous characters in ways that only he can, creating an experience that combines special effects and physical sets to bring the Mirror Realm to life.
Rather than simply passing through scenes from individual Disney films, Guests will experience a new world where these villains can exist together through the magic of the mirror.
Shops and Restaurants in Villains Land
The land will also feature shops and restaurants, giving Guests more opportunities to explore the world beyond the two major attractions.
Disney has not yet revealed the complete dining and merchandise lineup, but these locations are expected to be integrated into the land’s larger story.
A New Kind of Magic Kingdom
Villains Land will give Magic Kingdom something it has never had before: an entire land dedicated to Disney’s villains.
The project also represents a major evolution for the park.
Rather than simply recreating locations from Disney films, Imagineers are building an original fairytale world where familiar villains can coexist and create their own dark corners of the forest.
Are you ready to get villainous? Because soon, Walt Disney World guests will have the chance to celebrate their love of Disney’s most iconic villains at a brand-new Disney Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom.
Announced at D23 2024, a fully dedicated land inspired by Disney Villains is in development, and preparation is already underway. That’s right! This expansion is happening.
Where Will Disney Villains Land Be Located?
For years, fans have speculated about what would go “Beyond Big Thunder.” While details were scarce, many believed Cars-themed attractions might fill that space.
Instead, Disney has confirmed something far more wicked. Cars Land will replace the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom and Villains Land will be located beyond Big Thunder!
This marks one of the most significant transformations in the park’s history and expanding Magic Kingdom in a bold new direction.
Name Confirmed for Villains-Themed Land
The name for this new area will officially be Villains Land. Knowing that many of the other areas in Magic Kingdom have “land” in the name (think Fantasyland or Tomorrowland), they wanted this section to feel right at home with the rest of the park.
Even though the vibe couldn’t be more different, with Villains Land bringing a devious and dark “magic” to the Magic Kingdom, it still manages to be cohesive with the storytelling of the broader park.
What is the Storyline of Villains Land?
It was also revealed that while the fiends you’ll find here may feel familiar since Imagineers are referencing classic characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios as inspiration, the overarching story is a brand new, original take on those iconic villains. The Magic Kingdom invites you into a fairytale and Villains Land is no exception…
In many fairytales, the real journey begins when you stray from the safe path and instead turn towards the vast, foreboding forest. If you dare enter the forest of Villains Land, you may soon come across a Wishing Well that’s been torn asunder. Under most circumstances, a Wishing Well would indicate pure and good energy at work, but something dark happened to this one. Once upon a time, someone made an evil wish here – a wish so evil it corrupted the stone and broke open the structure, spreading the Well’s poisoned magic throughout the forest.
But of course, this sinister setting is tempting for those with wicked intentions, so, one by one, the villains have come here to try and claim the last of the Wishing Well’s power. Villains Land will be shaped by those who have used this dark magic to conjure the perfect new lairs for themselves.
Maleficent Coaster in Villains Land
At D23 2024, it was revealed Villains Land would have two major attractions, in addition to shops and restaurants.
The first is an exhilarating coaster experience, where you will come face-to-face with the Mistress of All Evil herself, Maleficent. You’ll race through enchanted briar surrounding her frightening mountaintop fortress.
The Imagineering team teased that this coaster will include elements they’ve never attempted before on similar attractions.
Mirror Realm Dark Ride in Villains Land
There’s a second headlining attraction of Villains Land: a dark ride, featuring a whole array of your favorite Disney Villains that will be hosted by the Magic Mirror.
You’ll find the Magic Mirror where the Evil Queen keeps him in the catacombs beneath her pristine palace. After making your way to him, he’ll magically transport you into his mystical Mirror Realm to see things on the other side of the mirror. There, in his ethereal realm, you’ll be transfixed by countless Disney Villains conjured in ways only the Magic Mirror can do. A combination of special effects and physical set pieces will bring his Mirror Realm and these iconic Villains to life.
