Big changes are coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, especially for families who love Bluey! Disney has officially announced that Conservation Station and the Wildlife Express Train will temporarily close beginning February 23, 2026, as preparations begin for a brand-new Bluey character experience.

This closure will impact the entire Rafiki’s Planet Watch area, but exciting updates are on the way. Here’s everything you need to know.

What’s Officially Closing at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?

Wildlife Express Train

Beginning February 23, 2026, the following locations will temporarily close:

  • Wildlife Express Train – the train that transports guests from Africa to Rafiki’s Planet Watch
  • Conservation Station – including animal exhibits, educational displays, and the petting zoo

While Disney has not shared details about which current exhibits may return, it’s expected that the space will undergo significant updates to support the new Bluey-themed experience.

When the area reopens, guests will be welcomed into an all-new Bluey and Bingo interactive experience, designed especially for young families.

According to Disney, this offering will feel like an “excursion” where kids and parents can:

  • Play interactive games led by Bluey and Bingo
  • Dance along with hosts and characters
  • Take photos and enjoy character meet-and-greets
  • Participate in animal-themed activities inspired by the show

One confirmed activity includes butterfly Keepy Uppy, a fun twist on the fan-favorite Bluey game.

In addition, the experience will feature an ability to possibly interact animals native to Australia, tying perfectly into Animal Kingdom’s conservation and education mission. While not expressly stated those Australian animals will be found in the Affection Section. Disney still has not announced what Australian animals will be present and there is some question is to what extent guests will be able to interact with the new Australian animals.

It seems that all of the current animal residents will be relocated to other facilities.

When Will Conservation Station Reopen?

Disney has not announced an official reopening date, but based on previously shared timelines, the area is expected to reopen in late spring or early summer 2026, likely sometime around June or after.

More Bluey Fun Coming in 2026

This Animal Kingdom update is just one part of a much larger Bluey expansion across Disney destinations:

  • Disneyland Park will debut “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” at the Fantasyland Theatre starting March 22, 2026
  • Bluey and Bingo are already appearing on select Disney Cruise Line sailings, featuring meet-and-greets, dance parties, and family activities

Keep an eye out for reopening details here as Disney shares more information about this exciting new addition.
