Disney has officially announced that Frozen Ever After at EPCOT will undergo a short, but exciting refurbishment in early 2026. Beginning January 26, 2026, the fan-favorite attraction will temporarily close as Walt Disney Imagineering replaces its original projection-based figures with brand-new, highly detailed real-face Audio-Animatronics.

Goodbye Projection Faces

Bye Bye Projection Faces

Since Frozen Ever After opened in 2016, the projection-style faces used on characters like Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff have received mixed reviews. Many Guests, myself included, noticed the figures didn’t age as well. They’ve always just kind of looked off.

The upgraded figures coming in 2026 will match the style seen in World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland. These newer animatronics have been praised for their realistic facial expressions.

How Long Will Frozen Ever After Be Closed?

The downtime is expected to be minimal. Disney has confirmed that the new figures should debut sometime in February 2026. An official reopening date has not yet been shared. We’ll share those details as we learn them.
