Coco Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure: New Details Revealed at D23 2026

Disney Reveals New Details About the First Coco Ride at a Disney Park
Disney fans are getting their first major look at the upcoming Coco attraction coming to Disney California Adventure.
First announced at D23 in 2024, the attraction will be the first-ever Coco ride at a Disney park, bringing the colorful world of Disney and Pixar’s beloved film to life in a new family-friendly experience.
At D23 Expo 2026, Disney shared additional details about the attraction’s story, queue, characters, and ride experience.
Guests will be able to spot familiar faces including Miguel, Dante, Héctor, and other beloved characters as the attraction revisits Miguel’s unforgettable journey into the Land of the Dead.
The Story Takes Place After the Original Movie
The story of the attraction will take place one year after the events of the original Coco. The attraction will also include nods to the upcoming Coco 2.
That gives Imagineers the opportunity to continue Miguel’s story while introducing guests to a new adventure inspired by the world of the film.
Rather than simply recreating scenes from the movie, the attraction will expand on the characters, music, culture, and themes that made Coco such a beloved story.
Enter Héctor’s Casa Museo

The attraction’s queue will begin in the area of Pixar Pier, near Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind.
In this new Coco ride, Guests will enter a “casa museo”, or house museum, dedicated to the music of Miguel’s great-great-grandfather, Héctor Rivera.
The setting will introduce guests to the Rivera family’s musical history before they embark on their own journey into the world of Coco.
Join Miguel on a Journey Through the Land of the Dead

After making their way through the queue, guests will join Miguel for a boat ride through his memories of the Land of the Dead.
The attraction will feature colorful environments, familiar characters, music, and plenty of surprises along the journey.
Guests can expect to encounter characters such as Dante and Héctor as they experience a new adventure inspired by Miguel’s unforgettable trip to the Land of the Dead.
The boat-based ride system will also make the attraction accessible to the whole family.
No Height Requirement
One of the biggest pieces of good news for families is that the new Coco attraction will have no height requirement.
That means the experience will be designed so that the whole family can enjoy the adventure together.
Construction Is Already Underway

Construction on the Coco attraction is currently underway at Disney California Adventure in the area near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier.
