Two New Avengers Campus Attractions Set to Open in 2028

The future of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is getting closer, and Disney has officially given fans a major update.

Construction is underway on two highly anticipated new attractions first announced at D23 in 2024: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab.

At this year’s D23 Expo, Disney confirmed that both attractions are scheduled to open in 2028.

The new experiences will expand Avengers Campus with two very different adventures. One sending recruits across multiple worlds alongside the Avengers, and the other putting guests directly into an Iron Man-inspired flight test.

Avengers Infinity Defense at Disney California Adventure

Avengers Infinity Defense will recruit guests to help the Avengers take on one of their biggest threats yet: King Thanos.

The adventure begins with guests arriving as new recruits and receiving a pre-mission briefing from Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani.

Your mission? Help reassemble the Avengers and stop King Thanos from wreaking havoc across multiple worlds.

The attraction will feature several Marvel stars reprising their roles for the experience, including:

• Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye
• Anthony Mackie as Captain America
• Chris Hemsworth as Thor
• Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man

Travel Across the Marvel Universe

Once the mission begins, guests will find themselves surrounded by massive physical sets combined with enormous media scenes.

The combination is designed to make riders feel as though they’re actually traveling through the Marvel Universe. It’s goal is to move Guests between different worlds and iconic locations.

Guests will travel to places including:

• Asgard
• Wakanda
• New York City

Along the way, you’ll encounter familiar Avengers heroes before coming face-to-face with King Thanos.

The attraction will combine physical environments and screen-based technology to create a large-scale adventure that takes guests far beyond Avengers Campus.

Stark Flight Lab at Disney California Adventure

The second major attraction coming to Avengers Campus is Stark Flight Lab, which will give guests the opportunity to experience what it’s like to train like a flying Avenger.

The attraction will feature several Marvel heroes, including:

• Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man
• Anthony Mackie as Captain America
• Brie Larson as Captain Marvel

Guests will board two-person gyro-kinetic pods that roll along a track before arriving at a giant robotic arm.

From there, the experience takes flight.

The robotic arm will perform a series of high-speed maneuvers inspired by Iron Man and other flying Avengers. This will create the sensation of being launched into an advanced flight test!

What Will Stark Flight Lab Feel Like?

The concept behind Stark Flight Lab is to make guests feel as though they’ve entered one of Tony Stark’s experimental test facilities.

After boarding the two-person pod, riders will be positioned in front of the massive robot arm. Once the test begins, the arm will move the pod through a series of rapid maneuvers, simulating the sensation of high-speed flight.

Both Attractions Open in 2028

With construction already underway, the biggest news from D23 is that Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab are both scheduled to open in 2028.

The two attractions represent a significant expansion of Avengers Campus and will bring new technology, physical environments, Marvel characters, and immersive storytelling to Disney California Adventure.
