Hurricane Milton Status Updates for the Walt Disney World Resort

The Walt Disney World Resort will mostly fully reopen on Friday, October 11. According to Disney, the Disney World theme parks, Disney Springs and “possibly other areas” of the resort will reopen on Friday.
However, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will remain closed until Sunday, October 13.
Update 10/9/24
The Walt Disney World Resort has shared that they will continue to remain closed through Thursday, October 10. In addition, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party that was scheduled for Thursday, October 10 will also be cancelled. Event tickets will be refunded.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will also remain closed on Thursday, October 10.
Update 10/8/24
The Walt Disney World Resort will be closing in phases starting on October 9. Here’s what you need to know.
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 1:00 p.m.
- Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close at 2:00 p.m.
It is highly likely the theme parks will remain closed on Thursday, October 10. The Walt Disney World Resort is considering opening Disney Springs Thursday late afternoon with limited offerings. More details will be shared on that as they are released.
In addition, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been cancelled on October 10. Tickets for the event will be refunded.

As an additional update to the previously announced closure of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, the resorts will temporarily close beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9. They are likely to remain closed until Sunday, Oct. 13.
For those who are using Walt Disney World Transportation, it will stop operating on Wednesday, October 9 after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.
Limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests.
Update 10/7/24
The Walt Disney World Resort is currently monitoring the status of Hurricane Milton and is keeping its Cast Members and Guests’ safety its top priority. As of right now, the Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions and will continue to be on Tuesday, October 8. Adjustments will be made based on the latest weather forecasts.
As a note, right now, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, the Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9.
The reopening timeline for the resort remains tentative, and subject to safety conditions.
