Breakfast at Ale & Compass: A Disney Dining Review

One of my FAVORITE restaurants for breakfast is Ale & Compass. It USED to be a hidden gem….but then people like me started talking about it and now I find that it’s a lot harder to get a reservation for. It’s still possible, but not nearly as easily as it was in the past. (So here I am, hyping the restaurant again…smart on my part…LOL!)
So, imagine my excitement when on my recent trip, I was actually able to score an Ale & Compass reservation and it was at a reasonable time! (Usually when I’d find reservations, they would be at like 7 a.m. and if you know me and my family, we are not ready to go at 7 a.m.)
The Atmosphere at Ale & Compass

Ale & Compass can be found at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. It’s just a stones throw away from EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance. The restaurant itself offers comfort food for breakfast in a coastal-inspired restaurant that’s reminiscent of a cozy lighthouse. It’s fits the theme of the resort perfectly, as it’s extremely nautical feeling, with blues and grays everywhere. It feels fancy and cozy all at once.
The Food at Ale & Compass

One of the unique things about Ale & Compass is the fact that Guests can order a la carte, but there’s also the option to either purchase outright or add on the Continental Enhancement, which is a buffet filled with Fresh Fruit, Assorted Yogurt Parfaits, Assorted Breakfast Pastries, House-made Granola, and Warm Cinnamon Rolls. It’s a great choice, especially for those who really want something more. Or if you want something kind of on the lighter side. We opted not to do it this time, but it’s a great option for those who do.
So, my favorite thing on the menu at Ale & Compass for breakfast is the Dark Chocolate Waffles. These are Chocolate Waffles served with Dried Cherry Compote, Espresso-Mascarpone Cream, Chocolate Shavings, and choice of Sausage or Bacon.
These waffles are INCREDIBLE! I mean seriously. They are the right amount amount of chocolate flavor and the Espresso-Mascarpone Cream means I don’t need to use syrup! It’s light and delightful and a perfect pairing for the chocolate. Also the bacon was just the right amount of crispy.

The hubby decided to get the American Breakfast which is exactly what you think it would be. It’s Scrambled Eggs, Breakfast Potatoes, Mickey-shaped Waffles, choice of Bacon or Sausage. The American Breakfast a great option, especially for those who are looking for a more traditional option. It’s definitely hearty and a good portion of food!
And for our daughter, we got her Mickey Waffles. Which is served with choice of two sides. We got her bacon and a sunflower butter cookie. She was certainly a happy girl with her Mickey Waffles. You can’t go wrong with Mickey Waffles!
Final Thoughts
Again, this is such a solid breakfast. I find the pricing to be reasonable and it’s always delicious. Other menu options tie into that coastal theme, like the Smoked Salmon Flatbread, the Crab Cake Benedict, and the Shrimp and White Cheddar Grits. I can’t wait to have the chance to eat here again for breakfast. It has retained my love as a fantastic breakfast option at Walt Disney World.
