Halloween Favorites Returning for Disneyland Resort in 2024

The Disneyland Resort is set to get spooktacular this fall to celebrate the Halloween season! This year, Halloween will run from August 23 through October 31, 2024. Returning favorites will include things like Haunted Mansion Holiday, Oogie Boogie Bash, Halloween Screams fireworks show, and more. (Of course, there are a few new additions that are going to be peppered in this year too…gotta have SOME new things, right?

Haunted Mansion Holiday Returns

Foolish mortals will be able to see Jack Skellington once again during the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay of Haunted Mansion. The overlay is inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” New for 2024 however, is the fact that due to the reimaging on the attraction’s queue, Haunted Mansion Holiday will be available via virtual queue only when it reopens.   

“Halloween Screams” Fireworks Returns to Disneyland

Each night, the nighttime spectacular, “Halloween Screams,” takes place. The show features projections and other special effects. It can be viewed in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, “it’s a small world” facade, Rivers of America and along Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland.  

“Halloween Screams” will include fireworks on select nights.

Mickey Mouse and Friends Debut New Fall Looks  

This year, Mickey, Minnie, and friends will debut new looks at Disneyland. Their festive attire will feature skeleton inspirations and colorful patchwork patterns.  

Seasonal Décor Throughout Disneyland Resort 

The Main Street Pumpkin Festival returns to Disneyland. Returning, of course, is the iconic Mickey Pumpkin. You’ll also spot pumpkins decorating doorways, porches and windows.  

On Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure, Guests will see the Headless Horseman.

The theming will also continue in the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort and Downtown Disney District, where guests will find festive touches throughout. 

“Mickey’s Trick and Treat” Show To Take Place Daily

Available for the first time ever as a daily offering, “Mickey’s Trick and Treat” show encourages younger guests to join in a not-so-spooky sing and dance-along with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at the Disney Theater in Disney California Adventure. With colorful projections and a lively host dressed as a mad scientist, it’s a happy haunting you’ll not soon forget!   

The Return of Radiator Screams

At Disney California Adventure, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters become Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween during the Halloween season.

In addition, the cars get into their Haul-O-Ween outfits and there is a ghoulish array of décor and more that transform the land.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark

Each evening, at twilight, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! transforms into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. During this special time, Guests will find that there are menacing monsters and free-roaming fiends among the attractions already wickedly thrilling drops. 

The Guardians have successfully escaped the Collector’s Fortress, but have accidentally left Groot behind. Rocket needs your help to distract the creatures that have been released to be able to rescue Groot during this seasonal overlay. 

Plaza de la Familia Celebrates Día de los Muertos 

Inspired by the traditions of Día de los Muertos, Plaza de la Familia brings music, vibrant décor, festive foods and exciting live entertainment to Disney California Adventure park through Nov. 2, 2024.  

You can’t miss the iconic “Árbol de la Vida” (Tree of Life) photo location and memory wall. 

And you also won’t want to miss the musical celebration of Pixar’s “Coco,” which emphasizes the everlasting bonds of family. This year the heartwarming show has a new name and story, along with newly designed costumes. Performances will occur daily.

Delicious Treats and Drinks

Treat yourself to delectable, themed treats. Dining locations throughout the Disneyland Resort will serve up new and returning seasonal items for every palate.  Stay tuned for more details.

Speaking of delicious food, this year, at Goofy’s Kitchen at Disneyland Hotel, you’ll be able to enjoy a meal with your Goofy and other favorite characters all dressed for the Halloween season.

And, at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Storytellers Cafe will off an all-new autumn-inspired breakfast and brunch, complete with seasonal décor and characters debuting new festive looks.  

New Merchandise Materializes 

The latest Disneyland Resort Halloween merchandise will be introduced including apparel, accessories, headwear and more, which will be available this fall throughout Disneyland Resort.

Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit Is Back

Beginning in September, Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit will be back and is some is an activity for the whole family. Guests search for Disney character-themed pumpkins hidden throughout the Downtown Disney District and, for the first time, Disneyland and/or Disney California Adventure.  

Guests will be able to purchase an activity map for either Downtown Disney District, Disneyland or Disney California Adventure to aid in your quest and claim a special collectible keepsake.

Oogie Boogie Bash Will Be Back and Tickets Go on Sale Soon 

Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party takes place at Disney California Adventure each year and is an after-hours event! During the event, can wear Halloween costumes, while enjoying the “Frightfully Fun Parade,” Villains Grove at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, as well as immersive treat trails featuring favorite villains — including some new ones!
