Walt Disney AudioAnamatronic Being Added to Carousel of Progress

If there’s one thing we learn in Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, it’s that things constantly change. That is, what we call progress. Big changes are coming to Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom, as Disney announced at Destination D23 that the attraction will soon feature a brand-new AudioAnimatronic of Walt Disney himself.

The introduction of a new Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney in ‘Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress’ marks an exciting milestone in our shared mission to celebrate the story of the man behind the magic and inspire new generations with his innovations and vision for the future. We appreciate the continued efforts and meticulous care that Imagineering has taken to keep Walt’s legacy alive,” Kirsten Komoroske, Executive Director of the Walt Disney Family Museum said.
A Look Back at the History of Carousel of Progress
The Carousel of Progress debuted at the New York World’s Fair in 1964 and has delighted audiences ever since. (It was one of my grandmother’s favorite attractions when we took her on her one and only trip to Walt Disney World before she passed away.) Since then, the show has had more performances than any other stage show in the history of American theater and has found a home inside Magic Kingdom since 1975.
Future Updates for Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom
Guests will find this brand new Walt Disney AudioAnamatronic as part of a new introductory scene for the attraction. Which is exactly where I thought it would be going when I initially read this news. The current first scene tells the story of the attraction anyway. It’s the prefect spot for Walt.
I do hope that they make a few changes to this Walt Disney AudioAnamatronic and they make him look a little more like Walt than the version that’s currently at Disneyland. With the feedback they received about that park’s version, they should be able to make this Walt Disney look more like Walt.
What Else is in Store for the Carousel of Progress?
It’s true that there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, and Disney was pretty mum on other changes. They did reveal that there would be more updates for the stories of John, Sarah, and the rest of the family. We’ll make sure to let you know those details soon.
