Dining Review: Tony’s Town Square
I’m going to be honest. When I booked my reservation, I wasn’t thrilled to dine at Tony’s Town Square. But during this last trip that my husband and I went on to the Walt Disney World Resort, we were looking day-of for a dining reservation at the Magic Kingdom and Tony’s Town Square popped up. So, I asked my husband….well….do you want to try it again?
It had been almost 20 years since we dined at this Italian table service restaurant themed after the Disney film Lady and the Tramp. Previously we had had a very mediocre meal there and we just hadn’t been back because of it. There are so many other great Disney restaurants to choose from, so why waste our time visiting a restaurant we were very lukewarm about. But, on that evening, we decided….ok, let’s just go ahead and try it.
The Atmosphere
We walked into the restaurant located on Main Street U.S.A. and immediately were welcomed. Out in the lobby area, Guests can watch Lady and the Tramp on repeat. We were quickly taken to our table which was located near the “back alley” where Lady and Tramp were enjoying their dinner.
The restaurant is a lot larger than I remembered. There is really a lot of seating for Guests, including an indoor and outdoor patio area. Guests will see imagery of Lady and Tramp throughout, including a statue of the pair in the center of the restaurant.
The Food
We decided on enjoying two different appetizers and then split a dinner entree.
The first appetizer we enjoyed was the Insalata Caprese. This was Heirloom Tomatoes and Fresh Mozzarella topped with Arugula and White Balsamic Pesto. Let me tell you….I was pleasantly surprised. The dish was exceedingly fresh and it was extremely flavorful! But it’s pretty hard to mess up caprese salad. Let’s try something a little different.
The next option we went with was the Fried Mozzarella with Spicy Creamy Tomato Sauce. Let me tell you…my jaw hit the floor when they put this plate down! Here were two foot long each (at least) gigantic mozzarella sticks! These were delicious. They were nice and crispy, as well as perfectly cheesy and the sauce was fantastic.
Ok….these were pretty basic appetizers, but they were both quite yummy, so at this point, I was getting a little more optimistic about our entree. We got the Rigatoni alla Vodka which is Rigatoni tossed in a Classic Tomato-Vodka Sauce topped with Parmesan-Herb Breadcrumbs.
Wow! This was fantastic. Again, this dish was very flavorful, something that had been a problem before. The parmesan breadcrumbs gave a nice crunch to the dish and the sauce was fantastic.
Final Thoughts
I actually told our server that I had been hesitant to come back, but that the meal was excellent. She said that they had a new chef and that they were incorporating new flavors into the menu. That was clearly the case as that was very apparent during our meal.
I can honestly say…I will be now going back to Tony’s Town Square. And truthfully, when I booked this reservation, I definitely didn’t think those would be words I would ever be saying. But to be honest, I’m actually looking forward to dining here again. And it will be sooner, rather than later. One thing is for sure…it definitely won’t be almost 20 years before I return this next time.
But now I want to know what you think? Have you dined at Tony’s Town Square recently? What were your thoughts? You can share with me in the comments or on social! Find me on Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram, Threads, and TikTok.
