Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin Returns Spring 2026

Attention Space Rangers! At the Magic Kingdom in Tomorrowland, get ready to once again take on the Evil Emperor Zurg! That’s because Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is reopening in Spring 2026! The attraction, which has been closed since August 2025, will feature new ride vehicles, handheld blasters (hallelujah!) and interactive targets!
Let’s break down the new magic coming to this iconic attraction!
What’s Coming to Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin?
The Tomorrowland attraction see a brand new character named Buddy! Buddy will be a support-bot with the goal to make sure departing Space Rangers are fully prepared for their mission. He’ll provide encouragement, final system checks on their Star Cruisers and a chance to hone their blaster aim.
The attraction will also get new ride vehicles which will be enhanced with video monitors that provide real-time scoring updates and other exciting features.
One of those exiting updates for the ride vehicles and the one that makes me the happiest…handheld blasters!!! This means that Guests will have better aim, allowing Guests to score more points. And to help aid in scoring, the blasters will now be two different colors per star cruiser. There will also be new sound and vibration effects so players know where they’re aiming throughout the mission.
Finally, the static Z targets will see upgrades. They will feature new technology that will allow them to react and light up when hit!
A Much-Needed Upgrade
Between the improved weapons, upgraded vehicles, and interactive elements, this is shaping up to be the most substantial update Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin has seen since it opened. For Guests who struggled with the old blasters or felt the scoring system was unclear, 2026 will bring a refreshing change.
Honestly? It’s about time, and it’s incredibly welcome.
