Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Reopening in 2026 with New Updates

The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness is about to get even wilder! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will reopen at Magic Kingdom in 2026 with brand-new enhancements, including glowing caverns, shimmering crystals, and mysterious forces lurking deep in the mountain.
What’s New: Caverns, Crystals & Mysterious Forces
The attraction will reopen with the same action and adventure we know and love, but Guests will notice changes immediately when the train heads underground. They’ll see spectacular natural caverns full of phosphorescent pools, as well as shimmering and illuminating iridescent stalagmites and stalactites.
However, while, beautiful, there’s something menacing deep within the mountains. Uh oh! What could that mean?
When to Ride Big Thunder Mountain Again
The attraction closed in early 2025. No reopening date has been announced beyond the fact that it will reopen sometime in 2026.
