Monsters, Inc. Ride at Disney California Adventure Will Stay Open Into 2027

Disney has shared an update that will be welcome news for fans: Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! at Disney California Adventure will officially remain open into 2027.
The attraction had previously been expected to close sometime in 2026 to make way for a brand-new Avatar-themed expansion, but Disney has now confirmed that Guests will have additional time to experience this beloved dark ride before it eventually makes its exit.
About Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!
Located in Hollywood Land, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! invites Guests straight into the world of Monsters, Inc..
This family-friendly dark ride places Guests inside a taxi cab as they zip through scenes inspired by the film, encountering familiar scare-acters along the way, including Mike Wazowski, Sulley, and even the not-so-friendly Randall.
As the journey begins, an emergency “special report” interrupts the ride: a human child is loose in Monstropolis. That’s right! Boo has escaped! Guests join Mike and Sulley as they race through the city to return her safely home, making for a fast-paced, charming experience that has remained popular with families for years.
What We Know About the Avatar Expansion at Disney California Adventure
This upcoming land will allow Guests to venture deeper into Pandora, but with a fresh perspective. While Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is inspired by the original Avatar film, the new Disney California Adventure destination will draw from Avatar: The Way of Water and Avatar: Fire and Ash.
This means Guests can expect new environments, visuals, and storytelling that expand Pandora in a way never before seen in a Disney park.

For now, this updated timeline gives Guests more time to revisit, or experience for the first time, one of Disney California Adventure’s classic dark rides. With Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! now confirmed to stay open into 2027, fans still have a chance to enjoy this attraction before Hollywood Land begins its next major transformation.
As always, Disney has not yet announced an official closing date, and more details about the Avatar expansion are expected in the future.
