How to Use the New Free Lightning Lane Option For Disneyland Resort Hotel Guests

Disney's Grand Californian Resort

If you’re staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel, there’s a major change you’ll want to know about, because it directly impacts how you plan your park days.

Disney has officially replaced Early Theme Park Entry with a brand-new perk. Now Guests receive one complimentary Lightning Lane Multi Pass attraction per stay for eligible Disneyland Resort hotel guests. This option is redeemable at any available time on one day of their hotel stay.

How Does This New Lightning Lane Benefit Work?

This new Lightning Lane benefit is available at check-in, or shortly after 7:00 AM on your day of arrival if you complete Online Check-In prior to your day of arrival. You’ll want to be sure you have your reservation linked to the Disneyland app. If you are unable to access the Disneyland app, you can visit the hotel’s front desk for further assistance.

To redeem your Lightning Lane, show the in-app Lightning Lane barcode at the eligible attraction you want to ride.

This change is major because before, Guests were offered Early Theme Park Entry instead, granting them access to the park a half an hour before park open.

Final Thoughts

This is one of the most impactful Disneyland hotel benefit changes in recent years, and it’s important to plan accordingly. Personally, I think this feels like a major step backwards and is not a great incentive to stay at a Disneyland Resort Hotel. Especially when there are so many cheaper and somewhat closer options that are nearby.

And this is an especially poor replacement for those who actually PURCHASE Lightning Lane and are staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel.
