Disney Treasure Will Honor Disney Imagineer in Haunted Mansion Bar

When Guests board the Disney Treasure, if they are uber Disney fans, they are going to want to make sure to check out the Haunted Mansion Parlor! That’s because this bar will include a new sculpture that is dedicated to Walt Disney Imagineer and famed Disney Legend, Rolly Crump.

Who is Rolly Crump? Well, he played an integral role in designing the original Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Resort. Six decades later, the Haunted Mansion Parlor will unlock the next chapter of the Haunted Mansion saga for Disney Cruise Line guests. The venue will include Rolly Crump’s unique brand of humor and is a proud continuation of his legacy, celebrating the weird and the fantastical.

Rolly had initially pitched a “Museum of the Weird” in the Haunted Mansion. One of his original visions included a character that appeared to be melting like a candle. So, it’s only fitting that Rolly’s memorial bust will include sculpted drips on the side of his face. There will also be a memorial plaque that reads, “BROTHER ROLAND- FOREVER REVERED FOR EMBRACING THE WEIRD.”

Final Thoughts

I absolutely LOVE this idea. I think it’s fantastic that they are honoring such a revered creative in the Disney Imagineer family with such a unique sculpture. And it’s even better that it ties into his initial ideas for the mansion. It’s things like that that make Disney so unique. Most Guests won’t have a clue who Brother Roland is. For those of us in the know though, it’s a nice wink.
