It’s the end of this version of Test Track at EPCOT. The attraction closed officially for its refurbishment beginning today, June 17, 2024.

Last year, Disney shared at Destination D23 that the Walt Disney World attraction would be closing. With this latest update, Disney Imagineers are gearing up to bring the next iteration of Test Track to life. To do so, they are reaching back into the park’s history for inspiration, including the original World of Motion attraction from the early days of EPCOT.

As of right now, details on what this new attraction will include haven’t been announced. Nor has Disney shared how long the attraction will be closed for.

The last update of Test Track was completed back in 2012. Currently Guests who experience the attraction create their own virtual concept car in the Chevrolet Design Center before buckling up in a 6-passenger “SIM Car” to take it for a spin on the track. One would guess that a big reason behind this latest reimagining is due to Chevrolet’s sponsorship contract.

Overall though, I’m excited to see where Disney and Chevrolet take this attraction as they move to the next chapter of the ride’s history.
