Monsters, Inc. Land Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Get ready to head to Monstropolis! That’s because Guests will be able to experience a brand new land themed after Monsters Inc. This Monsters Inc Land is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort.

The news was shared during Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro, revealed plans that Disney will be building a living, breathing, “Monsters, Inc.” inspired area. Here, Guests will be able to stroll the streets alongside some of your favorite monsters. 

This new Monsters Inc Land will pick up after the events of the film. Now, humans have now been invited to visit the world of Monsters, Inc. And yes, this time, the monsters need laughter to power the city and keep it running.

The Door Coaster Is Coming

One of the things that Guests have always wanted to do, after seeing the film is go riding on a door and FINALLY after all these years, we’re getting that experience.

According to Josh, “You’ll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and hoist them up into the air to take them away? We’re doing that, too. And you’re going along for the ride.”

The coaster will put you right in the middle of the monster action.

Work on the project is slated to begin next year. Currently there is no word on where this new land will be going, but if I had to make a guess, it would be in the area of the Star Wars Launch Bay or could replace the area where Rock n’ Roller Coaster is, or both.
