Update: 1/27/25: It appears as though this test has ended. No word on if it will be rolled out on a regular basis from here.
Did you know that Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run sometimes offers a Single Rider line? I’ve taken advantage of it on an occasion for two and given how people are seated in the attraction (groups of 6) it lends itself to a unique setup leaving multiple seats available in a vehicle, necessitating a Single Rider line to fill spots.
However, it appears that Disney’s Hollywood Studios is currently testing another option. Truthfully, it makes a lot of sense, especially given the seating configuration in the attraction. A modified version of the single rider line is being tested. This new version allows groups of two to enter the line together and ride in the same cockpit.
Instead of splitting up single riders into different groups, pairs of two can now enter the line. These pairs can have the expectation of flying together. The line is still separate from the standby and Lightning Lane queues. This means that wait times may be shorter than the standard standby line. (It’s certainly not guaranteed though, and it’s all based on the number of Guests in the single rider line, as well as the configuration of the Guests waiting in line for the attraction.)
Now, do keep in mind that while this test prioritizes keeping pairs together,it doesn’t guarantee a specific crew position role. So you won’t be able to have any say on if you are the Pilot, Gunner, or Engineer.
If this modified system becomes a permanent thing, and truthfully I hope it does, it could improve Guest flow. I’ve long thought that both this attraction and Test Track, which both seat 6 should have an option for parties of 2. Not just single riders.
There’s no word on how long this test will run, nor if it will be officially implemented. The Single Rider test that recently occurred at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance does seem to have been introduced on a full time basis, as when we were down there for the Christmas holiday, I saw it personally being used.
For now, Guests wanting to ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run can ask the Cast Member at the single rider line entrance if the two guest option is available.
We’ll keep you posted here at A Disney World After All on any additional updates.
But now, I want to know your thoughts. Would you use the single rider line for two at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run? You can share with me in the comments or on social! Find me on Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram, Threads, and TikTok.
