A few weeks back, we decided to make a breakfast reservation at Garden Grill. Found at EPCOT, Garden Grill is located inside The Land Pavilion. It’s a character meal that features some of your favorites dressed, only as they would be in The Land – in farmer type gear!
Oh and what makes this meal even more unique is the fact that all food is served to the table, family-style. So, it’s brought in big giant skillets and you get to eat as much of it as you want.
One of the best parts of Garden Grill is the atmosphere. The restaurant is set amongst the backdrop of one of the best attractions, Living With The Land. You get to experience scenes like the rainforest, farmhouse, thunderstorm, sandstorm and prairie
Oh and also, the restaurant rotates. Yep! You actually end up rotating through the scenes of the attraction, from up above. There are two different seating areas, on that sits directly on a front ring around the restaurant and one that sits a little higher, but is the back ring. We were on the back ring this time.
It doesn’t offer AS good of a view, but you still get the feel of the attraction below.
As mentioned, Garden Grill’s food is served family-style, and it’s an all you care to eat experience. So, if you run out of something, like say Mickey Waffles, and you want more, you can order more!
For breakfast, we were served cinnamon breakfast bread, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, steak, Mickey-shaped waffles and watermelon. You also get a beverage with your meal.
Guests are first served the cinnamon breakfast bread. This used to be just a tad bit better in the past. It was still a delicious choice, especially as you got more towards the middle, which was a little softer. The outer edges were harder and not as enjoyable.
Then they brought the watermelon. They brought a TON of watermelon. I can only eat so much watermelon. But it was nice and refreshing. Especially with how hot it was outside.
For the main skillet, we of course, enjoyed the Mickey Waffles. Is it really breakfast without them at Walt Disney World? There was also decent scrambled eggs. I would have preferred a more crispy bacon, but I’m a weirdo who likes her bacon almost burnt. The steak was served perfectly. It was a nice pink color and had good smokey kind of flavor. My favorite part of the meal though? The potatoes! They were a hashbrown casserole type of potato; cheesy and delicious.
We actually ordered more potatoes and Mickey waffles!
Of course, one of the perks at dining at Garden Grill is the fact that it’s a character meal. That means the characters will come to you while you’re dining. You can get autographs, take photos, or just have fun with them. (Or if the characters aren’t your thing, you can easily let them know you aren’t interested and they’ll move on.)
Guests will meet Mickey, Pluto, Chip n’ Dale. Like I said, they are in their farmer attire. And the best thing about this meal, is that if you ARE into characters, these characters spend a LOT of time with you. And because the restaurant is kind of smaller, depending on how quick you eat, you may see them a few times.
Which means you can have the standard character interaction – pose for pics, sign autographs – the first go around, but then the ones after that, you can have some fun with them.
I had Chip n ‘ Dale give me their best poses. And they delivered!
Too often I’ve had character meals where I thought the characters rushed through our interactions (I’m looking at you 1900 Park Fare), but that’s not the case here.
Garden Grill is definitely a solid character breakfast. You get lots of character time, the food is delicious, and it’s all you care to eat, and you’re doing all of this with the backdrop of arguably one of the best EPCOT attractions! It’s a slam dunk! Yes, it does cost a little more, because you are paying a premium to dine with the characters, but really, it’s all worth it. Especially if you can eat a “later” breakfast and then snack (which isn’t hard to do with all the Festivals at EPCOT) and then maybe enjoy a delicious dinner later that night.
