Well, we’ve all known this day was coming. But I gotta be honest. I was expecting a little more lead time on the actually announced close date. But here we are.
The Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will close beginning July 7.
These sections of the Magic Kingdom will be closing to make way for the new Cars-themed area, now called Piston Peak National Park.
It’s also closing to make way for the first ever land inspired by the Disney Villains. This new Disney Villains Land will include two major attractions, as well as dining and shopping.
Work is currently going on behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which is currently closed, to bring these areas to life.
Also announced was the fact that Beginning July 7, the Walt Disney World Railroad will operate in “shuttle mode” going only between Fantasyland and Main Street.
