New Pirates of the Caribbean-themed Lounge to be Called The Beak and Barrel

©Disney

Guests will soon be able to visit the brand new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge at the Magic Kingdom and it officially has a name! The Beak and Barrel will open later this year at the Magic Kingdom!

The story goes that the location has been established by the legendary pirate rumrunner, Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, and her talkative first mate, Rummy. (Rummy will look familiar to fans who’ve been around for a LONG while, like myself. But his name was Peg Leg Pete….)

The lounge will feature two distinct areas for Guests to enjoy – one is the Mess and the other is the Captain’s Quarters.

Meet Rummy

As Merry’s trusted companion and first mate, Rummy serves as the tavern’s quartermaster. His goal is to keep an eye on the place from his roost high atop the bar. Rummy will share pirate tales and will lead the bar in a rousing toast or two.

The Mess

The largest and central space at The Beak and Barrel was once the mess hall for Spanish soldiers, now known as “The Mess.” Guests will find long tables, while an imposing anchor covered in candles and dripping wax hangs high above.

A large bar anchors one side of the room. This bar has been cobbled together from salvaged portions of a cursed shipwreck. At its center, the skull-shaped stern holds an impressive collection of grogs and brew. Guests may also spot the Enchanted Rum Bottle. This was gifted to Merry by Tia Dalma.

Captains’ Quarters

Inside the Captains’ Quarters, you’ll find what was once the living quarters of the Spanish Comandante. However, this space appears to have been plundered a few times.

Above the fireplace Guests will find five miniature ships in glass bottles. Rumored to represent pirates from every corner of the world, these pirates have banded together to defeat tyranny. You’ll want to keep an eye out though. These bottles may just come alive engaging in a fearsome battle!

Additional Details About The Beak and Barrel

When The Beak and Barrel opens later this year, it will be limited to 45 minutes per party. So, just a head’s up there. In addition, the tavern will feature a menu for pirates of all ages and cocktails for guests 21 and older. So, yes, they will be serving alcoholic beverages.

More details about The Beak and Barrel will be coming soon (like those menus!) and we’ll have them here at A Disney World After All when they do!
