Walt Disney World

Dining Review: Flying Fish

A couple of weekends ago, we celebrated my brother’s wedding by having a nice “reception” dinner at Flying Fish. When he was planning out where to go, he asked my my suggestion and this was the first place I thought of. It seemed perfect. It is a signature dining experience located at Disney’s BoardWalk, so it’s upscale and the menu has some delicious options.

For those who haven’t been to Flying Fish at the Walt Disney World Resort, the restaurant definitely has an elegant feel. Guests walk in and are welcomed by a sea of blue, reminiscent of the ocean. Lighting figures are meant to look like bubbles and fish.

What We Ate at Flying Fish

We started with the Lobster Bisque soup. Traditionally, I find that restaurants that serve lobster bisque rely too heavily on the sherry and so the soup just tastes like that. But Flying Fish’s soup was a very smooth lobster bisque. Thinking it was because they used brandy instead. It gave it a much better flavor palette.

For entrees, we tried the Filet Mignon. It was incredibly tender and paired really well with the risotto. And the sauce was incredible.

The last entree we enjoyed was the much talked about Potato-wrapped Red Snapper. The potato-wrapping was crisp and the fish was nice and flaky. I loved the sauce on this one too, but think there was maybe too much in the way of leek fondue. It doesn’t look like it, but there were a LOT of leeks underneath the fish. I would have liked to have seen an additional “side” option. Maybe this dish could benefit from the broccolini, as well?

We brought in our own wedding cake, which I found out that you can bring in your own celebration cakes. Disney will not cut them or serve them in any way for you though, so do keep that in mind. The dessert options look great though!

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a nice, celebratory meal, I think that Flying Fish is a great choice and dining here recently only solidified that. The restaurant offers up a great atmosphere the food is incredible.
