First Look at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort’s Updated Lobby

©Disney

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has been seeing some renovation work lately and soon, this hotel’s lobby will be getting a glow up. The lobby’s renovation marks the culmination of the resort’s multi-year refurbishment, which has included enhanced guest rooms, refreshed dining experiences, including Victoria & Albert’s, Cítricos, Narcoossee’s and 1900 Park Fare, and more.

Here’s what Guests can expect to experience with this updated lobby area.

A Grand Update

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort’s lobby, staircase and front desk will be refreshed with a mix of botanical accents to create an airy, garden-like atmosphere.  You can definitely tell that by the concept art. The updates seem to feel more Florida-tropical and honestly, the entire lobby looks like it will feel less stuffy. I really like the additional greenery all around!

The lobby will feature beautiful new carpeting featuring hand-drawn florals that are inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies. Guests will find updated furnishings too.

Yes the beautiful chandeliers and grand piano will remain, but perhaps most interesting (or controversial, depending on how you look at it) is the introduction of a new lobby bar.

Inspired by the lobby’s iconic birdcage, the bar will feature woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents. Opposite the bar, Guests will still find the Victorian cage-style elevator, which is a staple of the resort.

The tea room area is also being updated. More details will be shared about that at a later date.

And in some sad news, it appears that due to the lobby refurbishment, the famous Grand Floridian gingerbread display will be on hiatus during this year’s holiday season.

Work on the Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort lobby updates are expected to begin later this month. They will be ongoing throughout 2025.
