Dinner at Sanaa: A Disney Dining Review

One of my husband and my favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World, hands down, is Sanaa. We don’t get there as often as we would like, but every time we’ve dined here, it’s always been a stellar meal. And our most recently dinner there is no exception.

Sanaa is located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village. The restaurant is a table service location for lunch and dinner and offers up dishes that use both African and Indian inspired flavors.

The Food at Sanaa

One of the things that Sanaa is most famous for is it’s bread service. Guests are served 5 different types of naan bread – Traditional Naan, Garlic-Ginger Naan, Spiced Naan, Onion Kulcha, or Paneer Paratha. My favorite is the garlic-ginger, because I love anything with garlic. But the paneer paratha is really good too!

Then, Guests can choose to get all 9 dipping sauces. (And trust me….get all 9!) They include: Cucumber Raita, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Mango Chutney, Tomato-Date Jam, Tamarind Chutney, Coriander Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Red Chile Sambal, or Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle. Each one has a different flavor profile and some are definitely spicier than others. Your server will let you know what each one is and which ones are on the spicier end of things. (I do wish that the board that they served these dipping sauces on had the names of each, just because it’s kind of easy to forget with 9 different options.)

For our dinner, which we split since we got the bread service was the Potjie Inspired. It allows you to choose one meat option (called the Journey). These options are Goan Seafood Curry, Butter Chicken, Braised Beef, or Pork Vindaloo. You also get to choose one option from the Harvest (Plant-based) – Rajma Masala, Chickpea Wat, Sukuma Wiki, or Lentil Daal. The entrees are then served with Scented Basmati Rice.

We got the Butter Chicken, which is, hands down, our favorite! We learned just how much we like butter chicken from dining here and I now make it at home on occasion. The butter chicken is so flavorful.

This time, we tried the Chickpea Wat, as our second option, which was not my favorite. But honestly, after devouring the bread service, the butter chicken, and the delicious rice, I didn’t really care that much about the chickpea wat.

We then decided that we wanted to try dessert. Sanaa recently rolled out some new dessert options that are themed around animals and I was excited to get one. We got the Wilde-best Wildebeest which was a Flourless Chocolate Cake, Milk Chocolate Custard, and Chocolate Fudge-coated Cocoa Nibs. This was so incredibly rich and full of chocolate goodness. If you’re a chocoholic, like I am, this is definitely the choice you want to make.

Final Thoughts

As mentioned, once again, Sanaa fully delivered. I left the restaurant so full, even though me and my husband split our entire meal. There’s just so much good food here! Which is why it’s usually hard to get a dining reservation here, unless it’s super late. But it’s so worth it.
